Royal Dutch Shell delegates visit Karamay

A delegation from the leading energy and petrochemical group Royal Dutch Shell visited Karamay on Oct 20 to discuss issues related gas production in the region.

The delegates were taken on a tour of the Baikouquan Oil Production Base and shown the Fengxian Coal Chemical Oil Production Project.

A senior employee from Shell's department of New Business Development and Ventures expressed his confidence in the future development of the city's oilfield production. He pointed out that the Karamay Oilfield has rich gas resources.

Shell first entered the Chinese market over 120 years ago and is now one of the largest foreign investors in the country. All of Shell's core businesses are now represented in China, including oil products and chemicals production.

Yang Xuewen, the general manager of Xinjiang Oilfield Company, pointed out that Karamay Oilfield has rich natural resources and is equipped with advanced technology and a large talent base. However, as oil exploration develops in the area, the company is facing new challenges, according to Yang.

"As long as we can carry out sincere cooperation, we will be able to promote the development of both sides," said Yang.
